Medical journalist Charlotte Huff is working on an article for a science publication looking at the emotional challenges and related strategies for people who are living with some degree of medical limbo because they have chosen active surveillance and have opted out of surgery for their DCIS.
The article will deal with how best to educate and support patients as they determine whether and how to live in a state of chronic uncertainty potentially for years?
If you fit her criteria, please respond by either posting your comments here or contacting her directly at charlotte@charlottehuff.com, if you might be interested in being interviewed. Her writing can be seen at http://www.charlottehuff.com.
I didn’t opt out of surgery for DCIS BUT…Five years after diagnosis, cancer, stage 1 was found in my other breast and I am told it is unrelated to my DCIS.
I find it unnerving and wonder if I should have been more conservative with my DCIS diagnosis and watched and waited.
I no longer see the space at the top left or anywhere on the page to put my e-mail in to join. I would like to join. Just got diagnosed with DCIS. Thank you!
Hi Michelle, It should be on the top left of the page if you are on a computer. If on an iphone, the “Follow” button it is on the bottom. Hope this helps. I will work on making it easier! 🙂
